Year In Summary....

July, 20 2009
Andrew and I became proud owners of our first mortgage. I will never forget it was the day before our wedding and I was out with the girls getting the traditional pre-marriage pedicure/manicure. Andrew called me right as the lady started painting my toenails and said our offer on the town home we had put down the week before was accepted. Now we had 20 minutes to get to Salt Lake to sign the closing papers on our home! He came by picked me up and we signed the papers and became proud owners of our first mortgage. After that everything happened in a blur....
Andrew and I realized that we had nowhere to stay for our honeymoon night and we figured now that we owned a home we might as well stay in the new house. Around this time it was already around 7:00 pm and we realized that we needed to move all our belongings in on only a matter of a couple hours! Panic arose and luckily we had lots of family and friends around to help us move everything in. We had two cars running back and forth between apartments and the house moving things around. Then we realized that neither one of us owned a mattress....
Andrew hurried to the store and bought a mattress which my uncle was kind enough to come pick up for us with his truck and moved it to the house. By this time everyone was exhausted so we all went home get some sleep for the big day tomorrow

July 21, 2009
Andrew Young and I (Jessica Sedley) were married in the Salt Lake temple. It was the big day. Everyone had to wake up bright and early to get ready. All the girls slept at my apartment so I had lots of help getting ready. Cori Hayes (by bridesmaid) helped me get dressed and do my makeup.Tess Edwards came over and helped me with my hair and my Mother and Katherine helped me as well. Everyone was so helpful they made me breakfast, dressed me and carted me off to the temple (I don't know, but I think they were scared I was going to run or something...). There are no real words to describe everything that goes through your mind when your getting married, but the whole experience was amazing. Andrew and I were sealed together for time and all eternity....

We took pictures afterwards on the temple grounds and remember feeling exhausted. I remember my Father got us a lemonade. Any advice I have for future brides is to make sure that you have someone standing by during your picture session with a cold drink of some sort--it will save your life!

We had a luncheon at one of the local chapels in Salt Lake after the temple session for family members.
The food was delicious. Then later that night we had a reception in Orem. The reception was held in the Peay's backyard. It was a beautiful afternoon. We had a little dessert bar and although I didn't get to try everything I am told it was delicious. The best part of our reception had to be the live music. We had various local bands and musicians performing. Our cars were decorated. We thought we had outsmarted the vandals by hiding one of the cars down the street, but they found both of them. I am still trying to get the confetti out of my car. Overall, it was a magical night and we couldn't have asked for anything better.

Let me tell you buying a house the day before you get married and then deciding to spend your first night together in it is a bad idea. We arrived at the house that night only to discover that our water was shut off. So I had to go back to my apartment to take a shower and get all that hairspray out. By the time we got clean and home to bed we were so tired and grumpy! Our friends Greg and Tess decorated our bed and left us some sparkling cider which was nice to come home to and ease the stress.  It was a hot July night and our bedroom was upstairs so we went to turn on the air conditioning. We flipped the switch and nothing happened.
We woke up the next morning to realize that not having water means you can't even go to the bathroom in your own house! Luckily, we still had electricity so had lights. We came downstairs and realized..opps, no food! New house filled with boxes, no furniture, no food, you can't find anything! Our house was a mess our cars were a mess, I am going to admit it I really felt like crying. We hopped in the cars and ate at McDonalds that morning where some crazy old man wouldn't stop talking to me about some internet scam he got caught up in and lost all his money. After that delightful breakfast, we went to Andrew's family's house to wash and clean out our cars because we had to travel to California and couldn't leave them with all that confetti and stuff on them. After cleaning the cars we went home packed up our things, locked house and began the thirteen hour drive to California.
The California reception was beautiful. We had the reception at the Hummingbird House in Templeton, CA. The weather was perfect and the food was delicous. After the wedding recetion we drove back to Utah where we boarded a plane to Hawaii!
Having a honeymoon in Hawaii is the way to go. We had a blast snorkeling and playing on the beaches. The condo we stayed in was very fancy I felt like royalty. We had a blast in Hawaii for about a week before it was time to say goodbye and head back to reality....
We arrived at the airport in Hawaii ready to board our flight home and the woman 2 spots ahead of use could not stop complaining about how she couldn't bring her soup on board the plane. We sat and waited for what seemed like forever...finally the woman left and we got up to the check in only to find it was 2 minutes past the check in date and we would not be allowed to board. Upset and a little confused we stumbled back out of the airport debating what we should do (we were thinking just walking to the beach and sleeping under a palm tree or something). One of the men who had also missed the flight due to the complaining soup lady kindly offered to have us come home with him to his parents house. We went home with him only to find out it was their family's family reunion! So after meeting all the members of their family and staying up till 1 in the morning playing board games with them, we were shown to our room where made ourselves comfortable. I was very surprised how generous and kind everyone was. They gave us free room and board, fed us and the whole next day showed us around the island to all the beautiful spots that only natives may know about. The next night we made it extra early to our flight and flew back to Salt Lake City.
